Power outage leads to overflow at Kirkland Pump Station
A power failure shortly before 9:30 a.m. led to a wastewater overflow at Kirkland Pump Station in downtown Kirkland. King County wastewater utility employees responded immediately and are working to engage an emergency back-up power source to stop the overflow.

King County’s Spanish-speaking residents can learn how to protect themselves and their children with information about safe household product use in four new videos produced by the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program.

Two tunnels soon to become one as Brightwater mining wraps up
The decision to switch tunneling contractors on the Brightwater Treatment System project appears to be paying off for area ratepayers, as mining on the remaining 1.9-mile segment of tunnel is essentially complete – 16 months earlier than the original contractor’s estimate and tens of millions of dollars less.

Many of the North America’s fastest track cyclists are headed to the Velodrome at King County’s Marymoor Park for two days of all-out racing as part of the 2011 Marymoor Grand Prix, presented by nuun, July 22-23.

King County’s Solid Waste Division (SWD) has named 89 local companies to its fifth annual “Best Workplaces for Recycling and Waste Reduction” list, and introduced a new business honor roll for companies that have made the list for five years in a row.

Access limited during restoration work at King County’s Chinook Bend Natural Area
A summertime project to improve habitat conditions for fish and wildlife along the Snoqualmie River, while maintaining flood protection for nearby landowners, will require temporary public access restrictions at King County’s Chinook Bend Natural Area.
