Sept. 30, 2010 Volunteers needed for Duwamish Alive! habitat restoration event, Oct. 9
One of the largest ongoing habitat restoration events in King County returns on Saturday, Oct. 9. The annual Duwamish Alive! river restoration event takes place at a dozen designated sites along the Duwamish River.
Work sites and projects include a river cleanup by kayak and canoe, shoreline habitat restoration and native forest revitalization.
Organizers have planned clean-up events in a number of communities along the Duwamish, including South Park, Georgetown, White Center and Delridge/Pigeon Point.
No experience is necessary, and organizers will provide volunteers with work gloves, tools, snacks, beverages and instructions. Volunteers are reminded to dress for the weather, and be sure to wear sturdy footwear, long pants and long sleeves – especially when there are blackberry brambles to battle.
To sign up or to get more information about parking and work site activities, visit the Web at http://www.pugetsound.org/events/duwamishalive, e-mail da@pugetsound.org or call 206-382-7007.
