Nov. 22, 2010 Pavement repairs require short closure, detour along Burke-Gilman Trail in Kenmore
Minor pavement repairs along two short portions of King County’s Burke-Gilman Trail in Kenmore will require brief closures and detours in early December. Because the work is dependent upon the weather, the exact dates of the construction and detours can’t be determined in advance.
Crews will be repaving the trail following some utility work, and trying to eliminate a few lows spots where water puddles along the trail. The closures and detours will only apply to daylight construction hours.
Work will be occurring near the trail’s intersection with 65th Avenue Northeast and near the 73rd Avenue Northeast underpass. Flagged detours will be in place for trail users at both locations.
The Burke-Gilman Trail runs more than 18 miles from Shilshole Bay in the City of Seattle to the City of Bothell where it intersects the Sammamish River Trail. Part of the "Locks to Lakes Corridor," the trail crosses Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford, the University District and View Ridge within the City of Seattle, as well as the cities of Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and Bothell.
The trail is managed by Seattle within the city limits south of Northeast 145th Street and by King County outside Seattle. More information is available at http://www.kingcounty.gov/parks/trails/burkegilman.html.
