May 27, 2010 Help King County preserve and improve trails on National Trails Day, June 5
June 5 is National Trails Day, and it’s the perfect opportunity to get outside and spend time along some of King County Parks’ 175 miles of regional trails and 180 miles of backcountry trails.
“Our trails systems provide a bounty of recreational opportunities, and they’re close to home,” said King County Parks Director Kevin Brown, who added that the agency has recently updated its online trail maps gallery. All maps are available for download by visiting http://www.kingcounty.gov/recreation/parks/trails.aspx.
From flat, smooth regional trails that can accommodate walkers, runners, cyclists and skaters, to challenging backcountry trails that will get your heart pumping as you gobble up altitude with every boot step, King County’s trails systems offer an experience that’s suitable for everyone in your family.
Sponsored by the American Hiking Society, National Trails Day inspires the public and trail enthusiasts nationwide to seek out their favorite trails to discover, learn about, and celebrate trails while participating in educational exhibits, trail dedications, gear demonstrations, instructional workshops and trail work projects.
