King County sets public meetings to preview projects involving large wood placement

Bellevue and Mercer Island sites for May 26 meetings

King County will present information on projects under way or scheduled for construction in 2010 that involve placing large wood in rivers and streams as part of their design at two public meetings.

A daytime and an evening meeting will take place May 26, 2010 at the following times and locations:

10 a.m. – Noon, Bellevue City Hall, Room 1E-113, 450 110th Avenue NE, Bellevue, WA 98009 (directions can be found online at: www.bellevuewa.gov/parking-directions.htm).

6 – 8 p.m., The Community Center at Mercer View, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, WA 98040 (directions can be found online at: www.mercergov.org/Page.asp?NavID=2014).

The County places large wood in a number of its flood protection and habitat restoration projects to prevent streambank erosion and improve river and stream ecosystems.
