Sept. 2, 2009 Community meeting on Ravenna Park sewer improvement project, Sept. 10
People interested in learning more about an upcoming sewer improvement project in Seattle’s Ravenna Park are invited to a community meeting hosted by King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division.
Thursday, Sept. 10 7 - 8:30 p.m. Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center 6535 Ravenna Ave NE, Seattle
The meeting will focus on the Ravenna Creek Pipeline Extension Project, which will entail installing a 280 foot-segment of pipeline to isolate the underground portion of Ravenna Creek south of the park to prevent raw sewage overflows into the University Slough and Union Bay during heavy rains. Sewage overflows do not occur in the portion of Ravenna Creek that was daylighted by King County and City of Seattle in 2004.
To protect public safety when construction begins next summer, the county and the city will need to close areas of Ravenna Park, including the ballfield next to Northeast 55th Street.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for neighbors and park users to learn more about the project, the upcoming construction schedule, and to get their questions answered.
For questions about the meeting, or to request reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities, please contact Monica van der Vieren at 206-263-3701 or 711 TTY, or e-mail monica.vandervieren@kingcounty.gov.
