Oct. 31, 2009 King County Flood Warning Center closes following brief, minor flood event on Snoqualmie
The King County Flood Warning Center was closed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning following a roughly five-hour opening to monitor minor flood conditions along the Snoqualmie River from a moderate rainstorm earlier in the day.
The Flood Warning Center opened at about 5 a.m. on Oct. 31 so staff could closely monitor rising flows on the Snoqualmie, which briefly entered a Phase II flood alert level following moderate rainfall the eastern portion of King County. There were no reports of road closures or other disruptions as a result of the high water.
King County staff will continue to monitor stream gages and weather reports and provide updated information on river conditions as necessary. Real-time river level information is available online at www.kingcounty.gov/flood.
Updated information on flooding will also be posted on the King County Web site at www.kingcounty.gov, and via RPIN, the area's regional public information Web site, at http://www.rpin.org. A recorded flood-information hotline is also updated each hour for citizens wanting information in flood areas. The number is 206-296-8200 or 1-800-945-9263.
