March 30, 2009 Construction accident reported at Brightwater central tunnel worksite
King County has received reports of an accident involving a construction worker on the Brightwater Treatment System project central tunnel near Kenmore earlier Monday.
The worker, who is an employee of a contractor doing tunneling work for King County, was apparently injured by a rail car that transports equipment and workers in the treatment system tunnel.
Employees called 911 to respond, and the worker was taken from the construction site in an ambulance. There is currently no information about the severity of the worker’s injuries or the nature of the accident, which occurred late Monday morning.
We will share details as they emerge. For media inquiries, please contact Doug Williams, at 206-296-8304.
