Gear up for a greener commute, test drive a fuel cell car at ‘Ride and Drive the Future’, June 2

Is there a greener commute your future? All signs point to “Yes”.

King County invites people to learn about green commuting options and even test drive a fuel cell demonstration car at the Ride and Drive the Future event on Tuesday, June 2 from 7 to 10 a.m. at the University of Washington Bothell campus, 18115 Campus Way NE, Bothell.

The event is sponsored by California Fuel Cell Partnership, Powertech Labs, UW Bothell, City of Bothell and King County. This is the only stop in the state where the public will have an opportunity to test drive one of 12 demonstration fuel cell cars from several top auto makers.

Scheduled speakers include University of Washington Bothell Chancellor Kenyon S. Chan; City of Bothell Mayor Mark Lamb; state Senator Rosemary McAuliffe; and state representatives Al O’Brien and Deborah Eddy; and King County project manager Greg Bush.

There will also be displays and demonstrations, including an electric bike and the ZENN (Zero Emission No Noise) electric car from MC Electric Vehicles, and lots of information on green commuting from King County Metro, the Bicycle Alliance of Washington, Sound Transit, Community Transit, and Washington State Department of Transportation.

Other event participants include Cascadia College, Puget Sound Energy, and The Green Car Company.

Note to editors and reporters: Please call Annie Kolb-Nelson at 206-263-6157 to schedule a fuel cell car test drive.
