July 7, 2009 Popular clean-water facility tours offered again in July
In response to public interest, the Wastewater Treatment Division is again opening the doors of its regional clean-water facilities to the public in July, offering free tours, family fun and environmental education to interested community members.
Learn where wastewater goes when you brush and flush, and meet the municipal magicians who create resources from the 200 million gallons of wastewater King County treats each day.
- Wednesday, July 15 - South Treatment Plant, 1200 Monster Road S.W.,
Renton, 5-7 p.m.
- Saturday, July 18 - West Point Treatment Plant, 1400 Utah St. W.
Seattle, 10 a.m. to noon.
Pre-registration is required online at http://green.kingcounty.gov/wastewater-education/apptrequest.aspx or by calling 206-263-6028.
The plants are industrial facilities, so sensible closed-toed shoes are required. Tours last about two hours, and children accompanied by an adult are welcome.
