August is coming to a close, and that means there is just a handful of weeks left before summer is nothing more than a memory. But don’t worry – King County Parks – Your Big Backyard, has plenty of great summertime fun to keep the good times rolling.

Last movie tonight – with special guests and activities!
Join King County Parks for “pirate night” on Wednesday, Aug. 19, to watch “The Goonies,” and meet the Seafair Pirates. The pirates will be at Marymoor to provide moviegoers with pre-movie entertainment and games that will be fun for everyone. Moviegoers can also participate in the pirate fun by finding the secrets hidden in a special treasure map, which is available on-line on the King County Parks blog at http://kingcountyparks.wordpress.com/. Movies are shown at MacNair Field, which is located in the center of the park. Moviegoers can park in the adjacent lot and there is a $1 parking fee which can be paid at the parking station. Regional event company Epic Events provides the 30-foot by 50-foot inflatable screen and audio support.
Concerts at Marymoor
Come see your favorite artists in the intimate surroundings of Marymoor Park – one of the most-popular open-air concert venues around. The concert series runs through Sept. 17. Details and ticket information are available at www.concertsatmarymoor.com.

Flaming Lips with special guests Stardeath and White Dwarfs Flaming Lips is known for their lush, multi-layered, psychedelic arrangements, spacey lyrics and bizarre song and album titles, as well as their elaborate live shows. In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the "50 bands to see before you die.”
Aug. 22 – 7 p.m. Tickets are $40, $60 and 150; $5 parking fee
ZOK Stock featuring Foreigner, with special guests Spike and the Impalers, and No Quarter
KZOK-FM’s classic rock festival, ZOK Stock, will feature British-American rock band, Foreigner, one of the most popular bands of the 1970s and 80s. Foreigner has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, with hits including "Urgent," "Feels like the first time," and "Cold as ice.”
August 27 – 6 p.m. Tickets are $45 and $65; $5 parking fee
The Pretenders with special guests Cat Power and Juliette Lewis A mix of hard rock, punk, and New Wave established the British rock band’s career in the 80's and the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Their newest Top 40 album "Breaking up the Concrete" was released late last year.
September 17 – 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $29.50; $5 parking fee
Flogging Molly Irish-American Celtic punk band Flogging Molly’s musical influences include The Pogues, The Dubliners, Stiff Little Fingers and The Clash. Their latest album, “Float,” released last year, was dubbed by Alternative Press "one of the most important CDs of the year, if not the decade."
Monday, Wednesday and Friday night racing at the Marymoor Velodrome Enjoy an exciting bicycle race at the Velodrome, Washington state’s only outdoor bicycle-racing facility. All three nights of racing are under way for the season. Spectator admission is free on Mondays and Wednesdays; $5 per person on Fridays; kids 16 and under are free.
