Oct. 7, 2008 Sewer utility work to close portion of Lake Washington Boulevard, Oct. 11
A sewer construction project needed to protect public health and the environment in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood will prompt a one-day closure of a portion of Lake Washington Boulevard on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Access for local residents, pedestrians and bicyclists will be maintained during the work.
Beginning at 7 a.m., both lanes in the 1600 block of Lake Washington Boulevard will be closed so workers can deliver materials and equipment needed for King County’s East Pine Pump Station Upgrade Project, located at the north end of Madrona Park.
Traffic will be detoured around the work area to Madrona Drive, East Howell Street and McGilvra Boulevard. Detour signs for northbound drivers will be placed on Lake Washington Boulevard and Madrona Drive. Southbound traffic detour signs will be posted on Lake Washington Boulevard, McGilvra Boulevard and 39th Avenue East, north of the Lake Washington Boulevard and 39th Avenue East intersection. Flaggers will be present at both intersections to ease congestion. The roadway is scheduled to be reopened by 5 p.m. the same day.
To protect public safety while the project is under way, a nearby park trail will be closed through May 2009.
