Time is running out to enter King County Parks’ ‘Summer of Love’ wedding ceremony contest

Deadline to enter is July 20; Winners get free site use for their special day

Prospective brides and grooms don’t have much time left to enter a contest for free use of any of King County’s beautiful outdoor wedding venues.

Sunday, July 20 is the last day to enter King County Parks’ “Summer of Love” wedding ceremony contest. Five winning couples will be selected at random from the list of qualified entrants and receive free use of one of five special King County properties for their wedding.

Fill out the entry form at http://www.metrokc.gov/parks/rentals/summeroflove.html and identify which site you would like for your wedding. One winner will be selected for each site and will have all rental facilities fee waived. A grand prize of a free, two-night stay at the Redmond Inn will also be awarded.

Wedding sites include:

  • Cougar Mountain Overlook, with sweeping views of the forested Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park;

  • Two sites at Tolt-MacDonald Park in Carnation, including the colorful Tolt Barn and a new Riverside Bridge Shelter that’s perfect for hosting an event;

  • Duthie Hill House near Issaquah, which offers a quiet forest retreat that’s close to the bustling Sammamish Plateau; and

  • The historic Preston Community Center, which features whole log construction, a gorgeous fireplace and a small park.

While not part of the “Summer of Love” contest, the historic Clise Mansion in King County’s Marymoor Park, also hosts wedding ceremonies. Set in the heart of the historic Willowmoor Farm in Marymoor Park, Clise Mansion can accommodate parties of up to 500 guests. Details on the Clise Mansion are available at http://www.metrokc.gov/Parks/marymoor/.
