King County solid waste transfer stations extend hours to help haulers with garbage disposal

Three King County solid waste transfer stations are extending their hours of operation for the next few days to accommodate garbage haulers whose regular collections were disrupted by the recent bad weather.

The Renton and Houghton solid waste transfer stations will extend their hours tonight and tomorrow night, Dec. 30 and 31, and on Jan. 2. The Houghton and Renton transfer stations will remain open until 6 p.m., while Renton and Factoria transfer stations will open at 6 a.m. on Jan. 3.

The extended hours are intended to help commercial garbage haulers who have been unable to make their collections because of the widespread ice and snow. Individuals wishing to dispose of solid waste can also take advantage of the extended transfer station hours.

As a reminder, all solid waste collection facilities are closed on New Year’s Day.
