You can depend on King County’s Waste Free Holidays

Christmas is just around the corner, and if you’re stumped on what gifts to give to your family, friends and co-workers, let King County’s Waste Free Holidays program take away the stress of holiday shopping.

Now in its 13th year, Waste Free Holidays encourages giving an “experience” gift, such as theatre or concert tickets, gift certificates to a restaurant, dance lessons and more. More than 160 participating Waste Free Holidays partners offer discounts ranging from 15 to 50 percent.

Waste Free Holidays not only removes the stress about choosing the right size, color or brand, but this program also helps scale down that supersized mountain of extra garbage that Americans typically produce between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day – an extra five million tons of garbage, in fact, when compared to any other five-week period of the year.

Discounted prices are offered through Dec. 31 and are available by contacting the partners directly. Details on all the offers and the participating partners are available online at www.wastefreeholidays.com.

King County's Waste Free Holidays encourages residents to think about the environment while shopping this holiday season. For more information, visit the Waste Free Holidays Web site, or contact project manager Tom Watson at 206-296-4481 or tom.watson@kingcounty.gov.
