Locally grown Christmas trees available from Puget Sound Fresh farmers

Purchasing a Christmas tree from a farmer participating in the Puget Sound Fresh program this year not only means choosing from the best selection of the freshest trees available, but it also helps support agriculture here in King County.

Nine King County farmers are offering fresh Christmas trees this year through the Puget Sound Fresh program. Many farms also sell fresh wreaths, garlands and greenery to make your home more festive this holiday season.

The complete list of participating farmers is available at www.pugetsoundfresh.org and click on the Christmas tree icon.

"King County farms contribute so much to the diversity of our economy and to the character of our community,” said Executive Ron Sims. “Supporting our local farmers this holiday season helps ensure farms remain a part of the landscape for decades to come.”

King County began Puget Sound Fresh in 1998 to help consumers identify products that are grown, raised or harvested in one of the 12 counties that touch Puget Sound. The program is part of the non-profit Cascade Harvest Coalition, supported by King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.

In addition to the Puget Sound Fresh partners program, Puget Sound Fresh publishes the annual Farm Guide to help consumers find local farms, including U-pick farms, organic products, recipes, agricultural activities and more.
