White Center community invited to share ideas for King County park redevelopment, Feb. 6, 15

The White Center community has a chance to tell King County exactly what kind of features it wants to see in a newly redeveloped White Center Heights Park.

Two meetings, Feb. 6 and 15, at White Center Heights Elementary School, will provide community members opportunities to share their ideas for the park, which was recently selected to receive the Starbucks Ultimate Park Makeover. King County Parks received $550,000 from Starbucks Neighborhood Parks Program to complete the makeover.

The underdeveloped 5.57 acre park is located at a hub of activity for children and families. White Center Heights Elementary School, the Boys & Girls Club and Greenbridge Development are across the street.

The park-in-a-week transformation will come with the help of residents, community groups, King County staff and hundreds of Starbucks partners (employees) after community meetings are held to decide what the makeover should accomplish.

Meetings will be in the Multi-purpose Room of White Center Heights Elementary School, 10015 6th Ave SW. Spanish and Vietnamese translators will be available.

County staff will be at the meetings to provide information and answer questions and hear the community’s ideas about the revitalization of White Center Heights Park. More information is available by calling 206-296-8632, or at www.metrokc.gov/parks/WCH.
