King County offers free collection of storm debris for wood, yard waste at Enumclaw, Cedar Falls facilities

Jan. 20-21 dates set to collect wood, yard waste from mid-December storm

King County residents who continue clearing debris from mid-December's powerful windstorm can drop off wood and yard waste free of charge at the Enumclaw Transfer Station and the Cedar Falls drop box facility in North Bend, Jan. 20-21.

"December's windstorm caused a tremendous amount of damage to trees and other vegetation throughout southeastern King County, and we want to help with the clean-up effort," said Theresa Jennings, King County Solid Waste Division director.

Branches and organic debris up to eight feet long and three feet in diameter will be accepted at the two facilities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 20-21.

This free service is for King County residents only. Loads will be subject to inspection by King County staff. Commercial loads will be accepted at the usual fee.  Residents with mixed loads of storm-related debris and regular garbage will be charged at the regular solid waste disposal rate. All loads must be properly secured; unsecured loads will be subject to unsecured load fees.

The Cedar Falls Drop Box is located at 16925 Cedar Falls Rd SE in North Bend.  The Enumclaw Transfer station is located at 1650 Battersby Ave. E.  For more information about this event, call the King County Solid Waste Division at 206-296-4466, or visit http://www.metrokc.gov/dnrp/swd.
