King County's EcoConsumer experts offer green-living tips at expo
Seattle Green Living Expo set for Sept. 16-17, 23-24 at High Point
From choosing the right light bulb to hiring a landscape architect,
King County's "Green Living" experts will help
answer questions, provide insight and demonstrate how to live a
"greener" life at the Seattle Green Living Expo, Sept.
16-17 and 23-24 at High Point in West Seattle.
King County Solid Waste Division staff will present a seminar,
"Becoming an EcoConsumer," Sept. 16, from 2:30-3:30
p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m.-noon at the High Point
Library.
"With all the media attention on ‘green living'
and simplifying your life, this is the perfect opportunity to learn
how to reduce your impact on the environment while also saving money
and time by becoming an EcoConsumer," said Tom Watson, EcoConsumer
project manager for King County.
For another highlight of this year's Seattle Green Living
Expo, take a tour of the four "Built Green" model homes.
Created by The Dwelling Company, Saltaire Homes, Lyle Homes and
Devland, Inc., each home demonstrates various approaches to environmentally
sound, energy-efficient building design. Design staff will be on
hand to highlight building features and answer questions.
Space is limited for the seminars and walking tours, which will
be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Sign up for events
at the Green Living Expo exhibit tent's information table.
Also participating in this year's Green Living Expo is EcoDeals.org,
a Web site hosted by the King County Solid Waste Division that provides
information about eco-friendly office supplies, clothing, electronics,
automotive materials and more. The EcoDeals.org program promotes
a collection of products and services that deliver outstanding performance,
conserve resources and provide real cost savings to consumers through
downloadable coupons.
