Oct. 3, 2006 Throw a welcome-home party for local salmon with King County's 2006 Fall for Salmon series Celebrate
the annual homecoming of salmon as they make their way back to King
County's rivers and streams at one of the many celebrations and
volunteer opportunities lined up for the 2006 Fall for Salmon
series.
Don't miss one of the most amazing natural wonders of the
Pacific Northwest as sockeye, chinook, coho and chum salmon return
to local freshwater spawning grounds. There are choice salmon-viewing
areas at several points along the Snoqualmie, Cedar and Green rivers,
plus Bear, Cottage, Issaquah and Covington creeks.
For another close-up viewing opportunity, tour the Issaquah Salmon
Hatchery during this year’s Issaquah Salmon Days Festival,
Oct. 7-8. A detailed rundown of festival features is available
at www.salmondays.org on
the Internet.
Fall is not only a great time to learn more about our native salmon,
but it is also the perfect season to volunteer to improve salmon
habitat. Volunteers of all ages are invited to make a positive
difference in the life of a salmon by participating in one of King
County's many natural land and parks restoration projects.
