King County hosts free workshop encouraging landscapers to practice natural yard care, Nov. 30

A low-maintenance, eco-friendly yard has become the dream of many Pacific Northwest residents. King County’s Solid Waste Division will host a free workshop at the Shoreline Conference Center on Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. to noon detailing how professional landscapers can tap into this lucrative market and increase revenues.

Owners and managers of landscape design, installation or maintenance firms are welcome along with anyone else interested in a career in this industry.

“The Business of Natural Yard Care and Design” workshop will address the benefits of natural yard care and sustainable design practices from an environmental and business standpoint. Participants can learn how these methods can attract a larger clientele by providing beautiful landscaping that is easy to maintain and environmentally safe.

“This workshop will show why ‘going green’ makes good business sense,” said Karen May, a project manager for King County Solid Waste Division. “Environmentally friendly landscaping can generate revenue and save money for landscaping firms while providing clients with a yard that is safe, healthy and beautiful.”

May will be joined by a diverse panel of experts who will provide information on how to use sustainable practices. Representatives from some of the Northwest’s top landscaping firms, including DeSantis Landscapes, Signature Landscape Services, In Harmony and Design by Nature Gardens, will provide real-world examples of the benefits of employing natural yard care and design.

The Shoreline Conference Center is located at 18560 First Avenue N.E. in Shoreline. To register for this free workshop call 206-352-6402 or email info@naturalyardcare.com.
