Community garden plots available for rent at King County's Marymoor Park

Community garden plots that can provide an aspiring green thumb with a summer full of fresh vegetables and flowers are available for rent at King County's Marymoor Park in Redmond.

King County Parks coordinates the garden plot rental program with volunteers from the Marymoor Community Gardeners Association, whose president, Michelle Raymond, said the park's beauty keeps bringing pea patch renters back.

"Our gardeners feel a part of something much bigger by contributing to the diversity of experiences available at this huge, gorgeous park," she said. "We feel connected here."

Raymond said the association literally grows tons of fresh vegetables every year, and donates the produce to the Hopelink Food Bank.

Each garden plot measures 400 square feet and can be rented for $57 for the first plot, and $32 for each additional plot. There is a $1 per day parking fee at Marymoor. Three- and six-month parking permits are available at a reduced rate.

Prospective gardeners are welcome to view the plots, which are located near the western edge of Marymoor Park, during park hours. Visit http://www.marymoorgarden.org/ on the Internet for registration information.
