Week-long parking lot resurfacing project starts in Lincoln Park this Friday

People will soon enjoy improved parking areas in West Seattle’s Lincoln Park as King County crews restore and resurface parking lots affected by a recently completed sewer line repair project.

Resurfacing gets underway this Friday, May 19 at the north parking lot, which will be closed until Monday, May 29. Park visitors can still find parking in the nearby south lot. Both lots are located along the east side of the park just off Fauntleroy Avenue Southwest. The south lot will be resurfaced at the end of May.

King County has been working with City of Seattle Parks and Recreation on several projects to restore areas in the park that were impacted by a major sewer line construction project that began last February after a 50-year-old pipe was damaged by heavy rains and high flows.

Construction on the sewer line repair was completed a month ahead of schedule in April. King County will finish restoration projects this month, just in time for warm spring weather.

People enjoy clean water and a healthy environment because of King County's wastewater treatment program. The county’s Wastewater Treatment Division protects public health and water quality by serving 17 cities, 17 local sewer utilities and more than 1.4 million residents in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties. Formerly called Metro, the regional clean-water agency now operated by King County has been preventing water pollution for more than 40 years.
