Dispose household hazardous waste responsibly with King County’s Wastemobile

The Wastemobile travels to the Juanita/Kingsgate area, March 10-12

Household hazardous productsMany everyday household products contain materials potentially hazardous to the environment if not disposed of correctly. Keep household hazardous material out of landfills by dropping them off at the King County Wastemobile, which visits the Juanita/ Kingsgate area March 10-12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fred Meyer store, 12221 120th Ave. NE.

The Wastemobile is operated by King County as part of the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program. At no cost, King County residents can drop off a number of different hazardous household waste items, including pesticides, chlorine bleach, paint products, automotive products (oil, antifreeze, auto batteries, etc.), fluorescent bulbs/ballasts and other items.

Created in 1989, the Wastemobile was the first program of its kind in the nation. In its first 16 years in operation, the program collected 13,771 tons of household hazardous waste from 306,800 customers. During 26 collection events last year, the Wastemobile served almost 20,000 King County residents, collecting an average of 100 pounds of hazardous waste per customer.

The next Wastemobile event is scheduled for March 17-19 at the Tilason Gravel Pit on Vashon Island.
