Lakes’ water quality looks good for Fourth of July fun

Water quality levels on many lakes across King County look good for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

Jonathan Frodge, senior water quality planner for the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP), said recent monitoring shows low bacteria counts at all monitored beaches on lakes Sammamish, Washington, Rattlesnake and Green Lake. Water temperatures are also near 70 Fahrenheit, Frodge added.

Weekly water quality sampling is done at 21 beaches throughout the summer by DNRP, Public Health -Seattle & King County and several other local parks departments.

Water quality samples are collected every Tuesday, and the results are posted on the King County Web site by Friday.
