Barbeques and pool parties are fun, but they're nothing compared to what's going on during the last two weeks of June in King County Parks - "Your Big Backyard." Some highlights include a performance by John Hiatt and The North Mississippi Allstars at Marymoor Park, and the Five Mile Lake Park Triathlon/Duathlon.

Group Health Velodrome
The Group Health Friday Night Track Racing series, "The Show," is thrilling action for racers and spectators alike. World-class cyclists compete under the lights, while family and friends picnic on the lawn or enjoy the action from the stands. The traditional "Kiddie Kilo" happens the first and third Fridays of each month. Spectator admission is $4 for adults and free for kids 16 and under. Monday and Wednesday Night Racing
Group Health Velodrome
The Monday and Wednesday Night Racing series develops bike racers for the Friday Night Racing series, presented by Group Health. The Monday series is designed for juniors and new bike racers, while the Wednesday series offers masters-only races. Spectator admission is free. U.S. Bank Concerts at Marymoor presents John Hiatt and The North Mississippi Allstars
Marymoor Amphitheater
The Marymoor's Summer Concert Series continues with celebrated songwriter John Hiatt. Joined by modern country blues ensemble The North Mississippi Allstars, Hiatt will deliver a selection of new and familiar songs notable for their finely rendered details, subtle blend of humor and pathos and unpredictable yet instantly memorable melodies. This annual race provides rigorous courses tailored to different levels of experience. The triathlon includes swimming, biking and running courses while the duathlon option involves running and biking. Pacific Rim Classic
Every day
Hosted by the South Snohomish County Dolphins this important annual invitational brings together 500 athletes from the western United States and Canada to compete in a 50-meter, Olympic-distance event. 2006 Esynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships
The Pacific Northwest Synchronized Swimming Association hosts this nine-day national championship that features more than 1,000 competitors. Tickets to the final events are $10 for general admission, $5 youth (5-13) and 4 and under free. Noxious Weed Removal
Log Cabin Natural Area, Issaquah
Volunteers are needed to remove noxious weeds such as Policeman's Helmet and Butterfly Bush from areas surrounding the Issaquah Creek. Private work parties preferring to meet at a different time can be arranged for businesses or school groups.

Red Town Meadow Restoration
Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park
Volunteer for the Red Town Meadow Project at Cougar Mountain to reestablish a small meadow at the site of an historic ballpark in Red Town, located three miles east of Newcastle.
