King County closes Flood Warning Center as river levels drop

The King County Flood Warning Center closed at 4:30 p.m. today after roughly eight hours monitoring minor flooding on the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers.

King County activated its Flood Warning Center at 8:30 a.m. to monitor flooding on the Tolt River. By early afternoon, the Snoqualmie River joined the Tolt in a Phase Two flood alert. More than two inches of rain fell over the weekend in some portions of King County, bringing the two rivers into Phase Two flooding. Both rivers are now receding, although minor flooding is expected to continue into tomorrow from Snoqualmie through Duvall as the Snoqualmie River crest makes its way downstream.

Residents in affected areas can get updated information on flooding on the King County Web site at www.metrokc.gov, or can visit RPIN, the area's regional Web site at www.govlink.org. A recorded flood-information hotline is also updated each hour for citizens wanting information in flood areas. The number is 206-296-8200 or 1-800-945-9263. Citizens who need help interpreting flood information should call 206-296-4535 or 1-800-768-7932. Problems on county maintained roads can be reported by calling 206-296-8100or 1-800-KC-ROADS.
