King County's Marymoor Park gets life-saving devices

Rotary Club of Redmond Rousers donates defibrillators for use in popular park

Visitors to King County's Marymoor Park will now enjoy an extra level of safety, thanks to a gift of four life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) from the Rotary Club of Redmond Rousers.

The group today donated four state-of-the-art AEDs to King County for use at Marymoor, which is one of the most popular parks in King County's nationally acclaimed parks system. The devices immediately upgrade King County's ability to respond to any sudden cardiac incidents at the 640-acre park.

"We can 't thank the Rotary Club of Redmond Rousers enough for their generous donation," said Tom Koney, King County Parks Assistant Director. "These important life-saving devices will allow everyone to feel even more secure when they visit Marymoor."

As part of Rotary's centennial celebration, the local chapter, Rotary Club of Redmond Rousers, undertook this project designed to improve public safety and raised money to purchased four defibrillators which cost up to $4,000 a piece.

"We see AEDs at airports, stadiums and even on golf courses, and it seems appropriate that they be accessible near ball fields, especially one as heavily used for a variety of sports as Marymoor Park," Lisa Marie Ursino Pavitt, president of the Rotary Club of Redmond Rousers. "We are very proud of this project, and the collaboration we received from private business donors and the help we received from King County Parks."

Four major donors contributed the $16,000 needed: International Co-Wreck Soccer League, Sound Heart/Overlake Hospital, Frontier Bank, Senior Financial Advisors, Inc.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians who are members of more than 31,000 Rotary clubs in more than 165 countries.
