With only a handful of summer weeks remaining, King County Parks serves up a smorgasbord of fun events in every corner of "Your Big Backyard."
With a choice of three outdoor concerts, two outdoor movies, two dog shows and a variety of unique food and art festivals there is something for the whole family at King County Parks.
Here are details on some King County Parks events occurring August 18 through August 31:
King County's Marymoor Park
August 18 – 7 p.m.
U.S. Bank Concerts at Marymoor presents Ani DiFranco
Marymoor Amphitheater
Join singer/songwriter/guitarist and feminist icon Ani DiFranco at King County’s Marymoor Amphitheater for one night of indefinable musical beauty. A prolific artist, DiFranco has released an album a year since 1990, including her most recent album, Reprieve, which debuted Aug. 8. Ticket prices are $34.50 for general admission and $44.50 for reserved seating. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

U.S. Bank Concerts at Marymoor presents KMTT’s First-Annual Mountain Music Fest featuring Carbon Leaf, Jackie Greene, Shawn Mullins and BoDeans

KMTT 103.7, The Mountain brings the best of the best in adult alternative rock under one roof for their First-Annual Mountain Music Fest. August 19-20 - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Best of Marymoor Park presented by the Northwest Crafts Alliance
Peruse a vast collection of fine arts and crafts made by some of the Pacific Northwest’s most talented artists. This juried arts and crafts show celebrates the works of 120 local artisans. Admission is free, and parking is just $1. For more information, visit http://nwcraftsalliance.com/.
August 23 - Open seating at 7 p.m. Movie begins at dusk
First Tech Movies presents "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"
Experience history as told by Monty Python in the infamous British comedy troupe’s rendition of the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. A long-time favorite of nerds and nerds at heart, the1975 cult classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" is chalk full of historic satire and ridiculous humor. Seating is on the grass, so bring low-backed chairs or blankets. Popcorn and soda are available for purchase. Kettle Corn, all beef hot dogs, treats and SUBWAY sandwiches are available in the park. Admission is free and donations are accepted.
August 24 – seating starts at 7 p.m.
KOMO ABC Red Carpet Screening
McNair Field
Join KOMO 4’s Steve Pool, and KJR-FM for a special outdoor screening of two of ABC’s new fall primetime shows "Ugly Betty" and "Men in Trees." The evening program also includes games, prizes, giveaways and samplings from Pizza Hut. Shows start at approximately 8:30 p.m. The event is free.

SweetFest
Gear up for the yummiest day of the year with Seattle’s first-ever dessert celebration – SweetFest. This unique weekend is brimming with ice cream, candy, desserts, edible works of art, interactive demos, live music and entertainment for the whole family. Inspired by Tokita Bethune, Inc., a local event management company, proceeds from the first-annual SweetFest will benefit The Moyer Foundation for children in distress. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Parking is included with price of admission.
August 27 – 8 a.m.
All Breed Dog Show presented by the Sammamish Kennel Club
The Sammamish Kennel Club presents the All Breed American Kennel Club Dog Show and Obedience Trial featuring a multitude of purebred pooches competing for the title of Best of Breed in the areas of conformation, obedience and rally. With performances by the Pawsabilities FIDO Drill Team and other dog related groups this fierce competition is not to be missed. The low-budget quirky comedy turned summer blockbuster smash "Napoleon Dynamite" will bring the First Tech Movies @ Marymoor Park outdoor film series’ 2006 season to a hilarious close. Fresh off their release of their new album, Sacred, the brotherly trio Los Lonely Boys travel to King County’s Marymoor Park for an evening of Tex-Mex rock. Monday and Wednesday Night Racing
Group Health Velodrome
The Monday and Wednesday Night Racing series develops bike racers for the Friday Night Racing series, presented by Group Health. The Monday series is designed for juniors and new bike racers, while the Wednesday series offers masters-only races. Spectator admission is free. Group Health Friday Night Track Racing
Group Health Velodrome
The Group Health Friday Night Track Racing series, "The Show," is thrilling action for racers and spectators alike. World-class cyclists compete under the lights, while family and friends picnic on the lawn or enjoy the view from the stands. The traditional "Kiddie Kilo" happens the first and third Fridays of each month. Spectator admission is $4 for adults and free for kids 16 and under. August 19 and 20 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Olympic Kennel Club Dog Show
Sponsored by the Nestle Purina PetCare Company the Olympic Kennel Club Dog Show is an exciting competition featuring obedience, rally and agility trials. With a record number of more than 2,800 K-9 competitors this is the largest single club event in the Pacific Northwest. Admission is free to all events and parking is $5. No dog spectators allowed.

Red Town Meadow Restoration
Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park
Volunteer for the Red Town Meadow Project at Cougar Mountain to reestablish a small meadow at the site of an historic ballpark in Red Town. The work site is located three miles east of Newcastle, and work includes weeding, mulching and planting.
