Climate expert, Dr. Stephen Schneider, joins King County Climate Change Conference, Oct. 27, 2005

World-renowned climate expert Dr. Stephen Schneider will join a remarkable list of speakers set for the King County-sponsored 2005 Climate Change Conference, The Future Ain’t What It Used to Be: Planning for Climate Disruption. The conference is set from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Qwest Field, Conference Center, Seattle.

Please join King County Executive Ron Sims and representatives from a broad cross-section of Washington state governments, education, businesses, tribes, farmers, nonprofit organizations and the community-at-large. They will come together to discuss climate change impacts and potential adaptations, and they will begin preparing for a future that may challenge some old but persistent assumptions.

Conference Highlights

  • Governor Christine Todd Whitman, former New Jersey Governor, former US EPA Administrator.
  • Dr. Stephen Schneider, world-renowned climate experts and lead author for international consensus documents on climate science.
  • John Cox, author of "Climate Crash: Abrupt Climate Change and What it Means for Our Future" .
  • Newly Updated Climate Impact Data and local impact scenario.
  • Morning and Afternoon Break-out Sessions on: agriculture, coastal areas, fish/shellfish, flooding/stormwater/wastewater, forestry, hydropower and municipal water supply.
