Detours planned around sewer work in Auburn at 15th St. S.W. and Perimeter Road S.W.
2005 Archived News
King
County will be detouring traffic for two weeks around a sewer line
replacement project along 15th Street Southwest in Auburn between
Perimeter Road Southwest and C Street Southwest. The Lakeland Hills
Force Main Project will improve the existing wastewater system in the
area and help protect public health and the environment.
Crews are now working on 15th Street in an open trench in the center
of the road. By Monday, May 16, during work hours from about 6 a.m. to
5 p.m., left-hand turns won't be possible for about two weeks from 15th
Street to Perimeter Road and from Perimeter Road to 15th Street.
Right-hand turns from 15th Street eastbound to Perimeter Road and from
Perimeter Road to 15th Street will continue. Signs will mark detour
routes.
To get to Perimeter Road from the east on 15th Street,
motorists should travel past Perimeter Road three blocks to the
left-hand turn signal at O Street Southwest. From O Street, turn left
onto Boundary Boulevard, which becomes Boundary Road Southwest
midblock. Continue to Industry Drive Southwest. Turn left onto Industry
Drive and go to15th Street. Turn right onto 15th Street and then right
onto Perimeter Road.
To go west or get to Ellingson Road from Perimeter Road,
motorists (from the YMCA, Junior Achievement of Washington, Boeing Co.
and elsewhere) should travel south on Perimeter Road to First Avenue.
Then turn left (or east) onto First Avenue and right (or south) onto
Pacific Avenue South. Go south on Pacific Avenue to Ellingson Road. At
Ellingson Road, turn right (or west) and continue to State Route 167.
To get to 15th Street, take SR-167 north.
To go from Perimeter Road to C Street Southwest,
15th Street Southwest, State Route 18 or Interstate 5, take the detour
to Ellingson Road and turn left (or east). Travel on Ellingson Road to
C Street, turn left (or north) onto C Street and follow signs.
Motorists headed for SR-18 from Perimeter Road may also go north to
15th Street, turn right (or east) and then go to C Street and north to
the Highway 18 interchange.
The county's sewer project is expected to end in summer 2005. For
more information about this work, call the project hot line at
206-296-4511 or 711 (TTY relay).
City of Auburn construction advisory: C Street
Southwest is also now under construction for roadway widening. No
complete closures of the street are planned during the King County
detour. However, traffic will experience some delays of up to 10
minutes because of one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers
within the city's construction zone.
King County's Wastewater Treatment Division serves 17 cities, 17
local sewer agencies and more than 1.4 million residents in King,
Snohomish and Pierce counties. Formerly known as Metro, the regional
wastewater-treatment utility has been preventing water pollution for 40
years.
