March 25, 2005 King County offers free Naturescaping and Plant Salvage Workshops
2005 Archived News
King County and Seattle Public Utilities are offering two free
evening workshops on crafting healthy and drought tolerant landscapes.
These workshops are a perfect opportunity to learn how to create
a low maintenance landscape that is healthier for both people and
local critters. In addition, the workshops provide invaluable lessons
on how to improve soil, shrink lawns and reduce the amount of time
and energy spent on yard work. Attendees will also learn how to
make their yards better places for birds and other wildlife by using
native plants.
Workshops will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the following
locations:
Tuesday, March 29, 2005 Rainier Beach High School
8815 Seward Park Ave S., Seattle 98118
Wednesday, March 30, 2005 Carnation Elementary
School 4950 Tolt Ave, Carnation 98014
Participants that attend a workshop automatically become eligible
to travel to a site to dig up native plants for their own personal
naturescaping projects. This great opportunity occurs on Saturday,
April 2, at a site selected for development. The salvage site is
generously provided by Quadrant Homes. Anyone interested in this
salvage excursion must attend the workshop to participate. The location
and directions will be provided at the workshop.
