Relax this weekend and the next with King County Parks' activities. Some highlights for this coming weekend include a performance by the Gin Blossoms and a Cougar Mt. Red Town Meadow restoration project. Check out all the fun activities available:

Marymoor Park

  • The US Bank Picnic in the Park Shows:
    (Info at: www.concertsatmarymoor.com, or at www.metrokc/parks.gov. Shows are free to children 12 and under when accompanied by a paying adult)

June 24

  • Gin Blossoms – 7 p.m.

June 25

  • Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra – 7 p.m.

  • The Wallflowers – 7 p.m.

Volunteer Events

June 25

  • Cougar Mt. Red Town Meadow – Newcastle 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    This restoration project is sponsored by King County and WNPS. Enjoy the forest walk, the beautiful setting, and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with doing good work in a wildland community by clearing "invasive exotic plants" (weeds), moving soil, growing native plants from seed, and planting native meadow plants.

June 24 to 26

  • Pacific Rim Swimming Classic – 650 SW Campus Drive, Federal Way
    o June 24 – 8 a.m.
    o June 25 – 8 a.m.
    o June 26 – 8 a.m.

    The annual swimming invitational, hosted by the South Snohomish County Dolphins, will feature over 2000 athletes, officials and spectators from four states and Canada. Spectator admission is free and swimming apparel vendors will be open in the lobby Competition will begin Friday and continue on Saturday and Sunday. A snack bar is available throughout competition. July 4

  • Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration – North parking lot, Dusk to 10:30 p.m.
    Celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends at the King County Fairground's Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration!
  • Evening on the Plateau Dance – Fieldhouse, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
    Put your dancing shoes on this 4th of July weekend and spend your evening at the Plateau Dance.

King County manages 25,389 acres of parks, pools, open space, natural land and trails. This includes 68 baseball fields, 61 soccer fields, four pools, 88 picnic areas, 34 playgrounds, 27 tennis courts, 13 boat launch sites, more than 175 miles of trails, six fishing piers, four community gardens, a climbing rock, the area's best off leash dog park and the world class Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
