Cottage Lake and Vashon outdoor pools will open this weekend as
the King County Parks and Recreation Division outdoor summer swimming
pool season begins.
Cottage Lake Outdoor Pool opens Sunday, June 12 as early as noon
for rentals, and with a Public Swim at 1 p.m. The Vashon Pool also
opens Sunday, June 12, with an Adult & Senior Lap Swim at 11:30
a.m. and Public Swim at 1 p.m.
Two new additions have been made to the Vashon Pool. The pool will
introduce a new high speed circular water slide and a new spectator
patio. According to Steve Chavey, Aquatics Supervisor for the Parks
Division, community interest in the new water slide has been building
for the past several weeks.
"We expect this to be the best opportunity for fun our patrons
have ever had at the pool," said Chavey.
Special programs for the summer of 2005 include float-in movies
and April Pools Day in July. Other activities at the pools include
public swims, water exercises, family swims, adult swims, and swimming
lessons. The pools can also be rented for special occasions like
birthday parties.
For more information call Cottage Lake Pool at 206-296-2999 or Vashon
Pool at 206-463-3787 for more information about pool schedules and
rentals.
Admission to the pools is $3.25 for public swims, and $5 for adult
swims ($3.25 for senior citizens). Three-month pool passes are available
for individuals and families and start at $107.50 for youth and
seniors. The fee for swimming lessons depends on the type and size
of the class.
The Cottage Lake and Vashon outdoor pools are geared toward family
swimming. The Vashon Pool is 25 yards in length – 12 feet
in the diving area – and is especially well-suited for lap
swimming.
Cottage Lake Outdoor Pool is located in King County's Cottage Lake
Park, east of Woodinville at 18831 Northeast Woodinville-Duvall
Road. Vashon Outdoor Pool is located on the West side of Vashon
Island at 9526 Southwest 204th Street.
