King County Agriculture Commission seeks applicants for five seats

2005 Archived News

Five seats are available on the 15-member King County Agriculture Commission, a volunteer panel that provides counsel on agriculture and agricultural land to the King County Executive and the Metropolitan King County Council.

Commission members are asked to volunteer for a minimum term of two or three years. Duties include attending monthly meetings, plus an occasional subcommittee meeting or field trip. Meeting locations vary, but are generally held in eastern King County.

The commission was established in 1995 and has built a reputation as an effective voice for the farming community in King County. Programs created by the commission include Puget Sound Fresh, Farm Link, the Agricultural Cost Share Program, the agricultural drainage program and various stewardship programs.

More information, including applications, is available by contacting Claire Dyckman, at 206-296-1926, or via the King County Agriculture Commission Web page, www.metrokc.gov/DCHS/CSD/WSU-CE/Agriculture/AgCommission.htm.
