King County's Waste Free Holidays promotion offers last-minute gift solutions

2005 Archived News

As the holiday gift-giving season winds down, King County residents still have the opportunity to shop for gifts quickly and easily with the nationally-acclaimed King County Waste Free Holidays program.

While promoting "experience gifts," Waste Free Holidays offers discounted prices of 15-50 percent on gift certificates, memberships and tickets for concerts, plays, sporting events, museum visits, restaurant meals, spa treatments and much more.

"People who participate in this program save money through great discounts, and are rewarded for reducing waste and conserving resources - and they can see all the offers on one Web site," said King County Executive Ron Sims.

"Giving experiences instead of stuff by using wastefreeholidays.com saves you time shopping. And with more than 125 participating businesses, there are gifts for all ages,"Sims said.

Each participating business offers an "experience gift" at a discount of at least 15 percent. Purchases at the discounted price can be made through Dec. 31, 2005, by directly contacting the participating businesses.

Waste Free Holidays is sponsored by King County Solid Waste Division and Seattle Public Utilities. For more information, visit www.wastefreeholidays.com, or contact Tom Watson at 206-296-4481 or tom.watson@metrokc.gov.
