Break away and catch a movie at King County’s Marymoor Park next week

Cycling enthusiasts have the opportunity to come together to share race stories, bicycling tips, and laughs with friends and family this Wednesday, August 17 at Marymoor Park. King County Executive Ron Sims, DASANI sponsors and cyclists will host a kick-off event to launch the DASANI "Blue Bikes" community bicycle program at Marymoor Park. The event will be followed by a showing of the film "Breaking Away."

August 17

  • Outdoor Movie Series: "Breaking Away," 7 p.m. and movies begin at dusk

    Join in on outdoor fun at King County's Marymoor Park for the First Tech Movies @ Marymoor. Each of the movies is themed to showcase one of the non-profit groups operating at Marymoor Park and throughout King County Parks. This week’s movie will appeal to cycling enthusiasts, August 24 soccer fans and August 31 the Friends of Marymoor Park are bringing a "dynamite" flick.

    The First Tech Movies @ Marymoor Series will offer ALL movies for free, but suggest a donation of $5 for individuals and $15 for families to support King County Parks and our non-profit partners. August 13

  • Concert Series: Natalie McMaster, 7 p.m.

    Natalie McMaster has fiddled and step danced from Ireland to Japan. On August 13 her steps will be taking her to King County’s Marymoor Park. For more information please contact Norah Gaynor at 206-296-0673.

August 17

  • DASANI Blue Bikes kick-off, 3 p.m.

    Join King County Executive Ron Sims, DASANI sponsors and cyclists in a kick-off event to launch the DASANI "Blue Bikes" community bicycle program at Marymoor Park on Wednesday, August 17. King County residents will have free access to 20 brand new Trek Cruiser Classic bicycles and can ride some of the regions most beautiful trails at no cost.
    The celebration activities will include free food and live music by Top Three, free samples of DASANI bottled water, bike safety demonstration, and ribbon cutting ceremony and DASANI check presentation, and much more.

August 19

  • Concert Series: Delbert McClinton, 7 p.m.

    Grammy winning artists Delbert McClinton will perform August 13 at King County's Marymoor Park. McClinton’s music is a little bit country, blues, and rock and roll. For more information please contact Norah Gaynor at 206-296-0673.

August 13

  • Highline Gabfest & Auction to raise money for the Highline Pirates– noon to 6 p.m., activity hall.

    Not only will there be plenty of time to gab, all money raised from the auction will go to the Highline High School Alumni Foundation to be given in the form of scholarships to Highline students. The items to be auctioned will be contributed by the attendees and is part of their admission fee. Total cost to attend; $20per person, (plus auction item), or $45per person if you do not bring an item for the auction.

  • Weed Warriors Needed Tuesday mornings during the month of August

    Looking for an opportunity to help the environment along the Green and Cedar Rivers! Come help on a Tuesday morning, August 16th, August 23rd, and August 30th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Cougar Mountain Running Series

August 13

  • Final Cougar Mountain Running Series Race (13 mile race) – Race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Clay Pit Road trailhead off of 166th Way SE

    The third annual Cougar Mountain Running Series comes to an end with a 13 mile race on Saturday, August 13. A relatively new "sport', trail running provides an all-over-body workout and offers the visual pleasures of forested, scenic parkland. The Cougar Mountain Series is one of only a few trail running events west of the Cascades. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. and continues until 8 a.m. Racing begins at 8:30 a.m. with awards and prizes scheduled for 11 a.m. Cost for one race is $25.
