This
4th of July celebrate the country’s birthday by indulging in a hot dog,
letting the kids play in a bounce house, visiting the American Veterans
Traveling Tribute and taking in the eastside’s largest fireworks
display at King County’s Marymoor Park. King County, the City of
Redmond, STAR 101.5, KVI Talk Radio 570 and Classical KING FM 98.1 are
extending an open invitation to attend the free Pepsi Family 4th of
July beginning at 2 p.m. and culminating with a 20 minute firework
display at 10 p.m.
“We
are thrilled to join the City of Redmond, STAR 101.5, KVI Talk Radio
570 and Claissical KING FM 98.1 in bringing the Pepsi Family Fourth
event to Marymoor,” said Acting Parks Director Maureen Welch.
“Partnerships like this are a major thrust of our new way of doing
business. We can bring events to park goers that will enhance their
experience here while continuing to operate under a new, tighter
budget.”
All
events are free, but all day throughout the park, parking will be five
dollars instead of the usual one dollar. Festivities will occur in and
around the concert venue. There will be entertainment on the stage
beginning at 2 p.m. The celebration will have something for everyone:
music; a kids play area with mini-golf, a bounce house, batting cages
and vertical jeopardy obstacle; crafts like pottery, jewelry and
painting on sale by 30 northwest artists; a mural wall where people can
send messages to our troops in Iraq; a liberty bell replica and
fireworks.
Below is a schedule of events:
July 1 - 4
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute is
an unforgettable exhibit honoring those men and women who gave the
ultimate sacrifice for their country. This Tribute is the largest
replica ever built of the Vietnam Memorial Wall with over 58,000 names
of those who lost their lives, are missing in action or were prisoners
of war left behind in Southeast Asia.
KVI
Talk Radio 570, Kiel Mortgage, King County Parks and the City of
