King County 2012 Climate Motion

In 2011, King County Executive Dow Constantine developed and proposed a series of actions (the "Climate Motion") that reduce climate pollution from county operations, save energy and money, promote joint efforts with cities to reduce community-scale greenhouse gas emissions, and take important steps to address the impacts of climate change on the environment, human health, and the economy.

Building on nearly a decade of County climate related achievements, this Motion redoubles County efforts and establishes the next set of specific actions to achieve County climate goals. The Climate Motion also aligns County actions with the adopted 2010 King County Strategic Plan, 2010 King County Energy Plan, and the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Vision 2040.

These actions are detailed in Motion 2012—0064, which unanimously passed the Metropolitan-King County Council on March 5, 2012 .
