Festival of Frogs  Join us for an exciting citizen science project. IslandWood has just established a FrogWatch USA monitoring site at Brightwater. Participants will learn about native frogs, their calls and habits in an engaging PowerPoint presentation and then go out into the field at dusk to record their observations and collect data.

Intro to the Birds of Brightwater Adults and teens (ages 14 and up) are invited to a workshop focused on birds that call Brightwater home year-round. Islandwood naturalists will lead a walk through the habitat area and share birding tips.

Birds of a Feather Join the IslandWood naturalists for a winter bird event for ages 8 and up. Participants will learn about our feathered friends that don’t fly south for the winter through a guided expedition and bird-themed art project.

Wet Walk in the Woods

Loop Symposium and Gardening Workshop 
Bundle up and join us for a rain or shine exploration of the woods that concludes with a fireside story and warm beverages in Brightwater’s community center.

Come learn all about King County's Loop biosolids, a soil amendment made from treating wastewater. Experts will available to explain the product and answer your questions. An noon, join us for a gardening workshop featuring The Ecoconsumer, Tom Watson, and soil scientist Kate Kurtz, as they discuss how to use recycled materials in the garden.

We will be pulling out invasive species and planting native species in our wetland areas.
