Phase 1 Construction Lower Tolt River Floodplain Restoration Project In the summer of 2008 King County and the City of Seattle plan to work on a project to restore salmon habitat near the confluence of the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers, while continuing to provide flood protection for the Carnation community and enhancing recreational access and opportunities. Work includes relocating an old, degraded levee, rebuilding it to protect the park from river erosion and building new trails for public access throughout the park. While some portions of Tolt-MacDonald Park will be closed to public access while project materials are staged and work is under way, most of the park and its amenities will remain open and available for public use throughout the duration of this project during 2008, including: - Access to the Tolt River and the Snoqualmie River.
- Access to the Boy Scout Bridge and all portions of the park on the western shore of the Snoqualmie River, including King County’s six new yurts.
- All 12 car campsites, nine walk-in tent sites and 16 RV campsites will be available for use through the July 4th weekend. After the July 4th weekend, nine camp sites will be unavailable for the duration of the project. All remaining camping areas will all be avail able for use.
- All ballfields will remain open for the duration of the construction project.
