The King County Noxious Weed Control Board sets county weed control prioritizes, annually adopts the county weed list, and administers the Noxious Weed Control Program throughout the County according to the requirements of RCW 17.10. The Board also provides education to the public by informing them of the County weed list, why it is necessary to control noxious weeds and appropriate methods of eradication or control. The Board is composed of five voting volunteer members and one non-voting member from the County Extension office. Board members represent the five County weed districts. At least four need to be engaged in the primary production of agricultural products. The Board is appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by Council. The Board produces an Annual Report on the performance and activities of the Noxious Weed Program.
Weed Board meetings are held monthly throughout the year and are open to the public. Once a year, following the adoption of the State Noxious Weed List by the State Weed Board, the King County Weed Board reviews the changes in the state list and adopts the King County Noxious Weed List. The County Noxious Weed List reflects both the requirements of State Law WAC 16-750 and the priorities of the King County Noxious Weed Board. The Weed Board encourages public comment and input to help set the priorities of the noxious weed program each year.
