Regular and Full-Time Local 587 EmployeesIf you're a regular (including term limited) or full-time Local 587 employee, King County pays for medical, dental and vision coverage for you and the eligible family members you enroll, plus basic life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) and long term disability (LTD) insurance for you. When you first enroll you have a choice of medical plans and may purchase additional/enhanced life and enhanced AD&D for yourself and family members, plus enhanced LTD for yourself. Part-Time Local 587 EmployeesAs a part-time transit operator or an assigned or on-call employee represented by Local 587, you're eligible for one of two health care plans: - Partial Benefits Plan, or
- Full Benefits Plan.
Partial Benefits Plan You become eligible for the Partial Benefits Plan on the first of the month following your hire date or qualification date, whichever is later. Your hire date is determined by your department. If the later of your hire date or qualification date is the first of the month, you become eligible that same day. Under the Partial Benefits Plan, you may purchase medical, dental and vision coverage for yourself and the eligible dependents (spouse/domestic partner and children) you enroll. Your own medical coverage is partially subsidized by the county, but dependent coverage isn't. You must elect medical coverage to receive dental coverage. You may elect vision coverage without electing medical coverage. To cover dependents, you must elect medical coverage for yourself. Full Benefits Plan You become eligible for the Full Benefits Plan when: Under the Full Benefits Plan, you receive county-paid medical, dental and vision coverage for yourself and the eligible dependents (spouse/domestic partner and children) you enroll. Deputy SheriffsKing County pays for medical/vision, dental and basic life insurance for you and the eligible family members you enroll, plus basic accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance for you. You may purchase additional/enhanced life insurance for yourself.
