If an emergency you could not have anticipated arises while you’re at work, you can catch a taxicab to get home fast—up to eight times a year. A free ride home is provided:

  • If you arrived at work by means other than driving alone and the service is needed the same day, and
  • If there is an emergency such as unscheduled overtime, unexpected illness in you or a family member, or missing your carpool or vanpool ride home.

The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling the Employee Transportation Hotline at 206-263-4575.

You pay nothing out-of-pocket except gratuity.  The Home Free Guarantee program will be billed directly for your ride.

If you use a taxi ride to get to someplace other than your car or home, it will count as one of your eight trips for the year.  Therefore, if you then use a taxi ride to get to your car or home, it will count as a second trip.

Once you have taken your taxi ride, be sure to sign and obtain a completed receipt. Mail the receipt to:
