Personnel Board election ballots are in the mail
The 2011 Personnel Board primary election begins this week. All career service King County Employees will receive their ballots in the mail. Watch your mailbox for an envelope with a brown wave and the King County logo.
The deadline to return ballots is June 7 at 4:30 p.m. – ballots must be at King County Elections by that time to be processed. Ballots may be returned through the U.S. Postal Service, which requires a first class stamp, or by using county interoffice mail. Please note: The use of interoffice mail to return ballots is acceptable only for this election, and will not be used in the upcoming primary and General elections. There will be no drop boxes open for this election.
If a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote in the primary, that candidate will be deemed elected and no further election will be conducted. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two candidates will proceed to the General Election on Tuesday, June 28.
The Personnel Board consists of five members, four of whom are appointed, and one member elected by county employees. The elected term is five years. The county charter requires the elected representative on the Personnel Board to be a resident of the state of Washington and not currently employed by King County.
The Personnel Board conducts hearings on appeals to certain county personnel actions as provided for in Section 540 of the King County Charter.
For more information on the position contact Dave Goff, Clerk of the Board of Appeals at 206-296-3496.
