Stress Less: Report Card — Days felt depressed in past weekThe number of days an individual felt depressed in the past week may be one of several indicators of depression. According to the CDC, in any 2-week period, 5.4% of Americans 12 years of age and older experience depression. Rates are higher in 40-59 year olds, women, and non-Hispanic black persons than in other demographic groups.
How do King County employees and their spouses/domestic partners stack up? In 2009 more than one in 10 (11.26%) Wellness Assessment respondents reported that they felt depressed one or more days during the past week. This represents a decrease of almost 5% since 2006.
