2008 Seafair brings out King County competitors
Date: Sunday, July 20, 2008
 Time: 6:55 a.m.
Place: Seward Park, Seattle The Human Resources Division had two teams participating in the Seafair 2008 Triathlon – 6 people total, one for each leg of the race. The race includes a ½ mile swim, 12 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run. Congratulations to all King County race participants! From Greg Felton, HRDShoot, I guessed it right.
My team, Kerry Delaney (swim), me [Greg Felton] (bike) and Gretchen Herbison (run) were crushed by the other HRD team, made up of Alex Golan (swim), Tyler Tabor (bike) and Martha Driver (run.) We were in the category of "mixed teams - there were 17 teams in that division. Our combined age was over 106 years old.
The other HRD team took 2nd, we took 7th. Along with listing our ages and cities (thanks) this document lists each individual split time, pace, and how that ranked overall and ranked by gender.
With a 10-minute deficit after the swim, I lost 1 minute to Tyler on the bike, but Gretchen made back 2 minutes on the run. We are all ready to compete again next year.
In order, I want to 1) beat the other team, 2) beat my time on the bike, and 3) beat Tyler on the bike. His time was 47th fastest of 1,463 competitors and I was 95th. Good but not good enough! Read some of our other Success Stories:
