Heart Walk – October 3rd Come Get Two More Hours of Life! That’s right - every hour of regular exercise can add 2 hours to your life expectancy! This year’s Heart Walk is October 3. King County co-workers, friends and family are signing up to get that hour of exercise and support the American Heart Association’s (AHA) life changing and life saving research and educational programs. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of men and women in the U.S. “As one who lost his father at age 48 and brother at age 47 to heart disease, I know all too well the importance of a heart healthy lifestyle,” said Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer. “Since I do not have the power to eliminate the risk factors associated with my family history, I have adopted a healthy lifestyle that addresses the prevention of heart disease and encourage others to do the same.” Moving more on a regular basis can help prevent heart disease and lower the risk of other health conditions.
