Take a break and walk with your co-workers

Move More

Take your break!

Just 10 minutes of exercise can have significant health impacts, particularly for people who don’t regularly exercise. So next time you’re tempted to work through your break or lunch time, take 10 for you. Get up, move around and get your heart pumping. You’ll return to your work refreshed and clear headed, ready for the next challenge. The Centers for Disease Control recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week – that can be 30 minutes on 5 days a week or just over 20 minutes every day. Remember that 10 minutes at a time is fine. Want to pump up your next break? Try these – no equipment or membership fee required:

  • Take a brisk walk around the block
  • Climb the stairs in your building
  • Go into an empty office or private area and dance like no one’s watching
  • Do jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, etc.
  • Use your chair for arm dips
  • See if you can do lunges the entire length of your office corridor
  • Grab some coworkers and do a conga line
  • Fill up your water bottle and do arm curls
