Walking My Way Back to Health - A Move More Success Story After having two back surgeries I struggled with my weight - I was a size 10 before back problems then after surgery went up to a size 14/16. Then a little over a year ago, after we started the Healthy Incentives program, I just decided I was tired of looking and feeling bad about my weight. So I did something about it. I started walking about 45 minutes a day at lunch and cut back on my junk food intake. I incorporated a couple of different types of diets: no carbs, lots of fruits and veggies, salads, non-fat dairy three times a day, chicken and protein, lots of water and no soda of any kind. For others, I would say that putting your mind to it and knowing you can do it really helps. Will power is the big thing – just say no to donuts and pastries. At the worksite, we got filtered water with our Healthy Workplace Funding Initiative money. That really helped me drink more water. I am now down to a size 6 and have kept it off for a year now.
